Host of Rockingham
County's Only 440 Net. The Rockingham County Rag Chewers Net on
Tuesday Nights at 8:00PM on the 443.975 MHz Repeater
We are now
looking for several Net Control Stations to help carry on the
Net. George, WN4LTY will pick up the the Net on the first Tuesday
of each month but he does have a conflict with the other weeks.
Of course we do NOT have a Rag Chewers Net on the third Tuesday
each month since it is the Rockingham County Amateur Radio Club
meeting night. Jamey, K4RVJ; Mike, KD4CSJ; and Dal, W4YQY will
help out and pick up the other Tuesday nights when possible. Anyone
who would like to pick up a Net, please let us know. This is a
very informal Net with the only purpose of general Rag Chewing!
We have a very simple Net Script for the Net and it may be downloaded
or printed from Rag
Chew Net Script. If you would like to pick up a Net one Tuesday
night just let George, Jamey, Mike, or Dal know.
The Rockingham
County Repeater Association was originallyformed in August 2003
and licensed as KI4CGV in September 2003. The original members
of the Association and owners of the repeaters are Butch Overby,
WA4RDX; Jamey Nixon, K4RVJ; George Brewer, WN4LTY; and Dal Williams,
W4YQY
On April
15, 2005 the Callsign was changed from KI4CGV to W4BJF under the
vanity program to carry on the Callsign of Clyde Williams Sr.
(SK). Clyde was the father of Dal Williams and had held both the
W4BJF Call and the W4YQY Call that Dal now holds.
It is the
purpose of the Rockingham County Repeater Association to assist
Rockingham County Amateurs in County wide communications. We are
fourtunate to have an excellent tower at a location that is centrally
located in the County. In the times of Emergency or Severe Weather
we are able to offer a 2000+ square foot concrete bunker style
building. The building is equiped with a 30KV General Motors Diesel
Generator that when the project is completed will be auto-switching
in times of power failure. The Rockingham County Repeater Association
supports both ARES® and Blacksburg
Skywarn
programs.
With the
site resting on a 2 acre hilltop, it offers an excellent location
for Amateurs to meet for Social and Operating Events such as Field
Day, Contest, and Cook-Outs.
The Rockingham
County Repeater Association works closely with it's sister affilliate,
the Rockingham County Amateur Radio Club. All RCRA Associates are
also members of the RCARC. With the two groups working in unison,
we provide excellent communications throughout the Rockingham
County area.
